Inspired by Alice Mawdsley's new travel illustration book - The Traveling Sketcher: City. Learn to draw your travel memories.
This workshop will be based on a scene of The Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, Florida - taken during Alice's art residency for the tourism board. You will be looking at drawing techniques for traditional architecture, sculptures and nature - focussing on perspective, understanding how to use a larger colour palette and being playful with your drawing style.
Designed as a relaxed 2 hour drawing workshop open to all skill levels, Alice will guide you through every step of the drawing process.
Materials:
Sketchbook or drawing paper (Alice recommends 5x7" paper for a card size. Alice's favourites are Arches or Fabriano Hot Pressed watercolour paper).
A selection of coloured pencils (Alice uses Caran d'Ache Luminance, but any brand or set you have at home works).
What's included:
2 hour self-paced video tutorial — lifetime access, watch as often as you like
An illustration workshop from a professional, published illustrator.
Full chapter timestamps, so you can jump to any section
The reference image to draw from
My colour palette for the piece
Who it's for:
Complete beginners and experienced sketchers alike - anyone who wants to slow down, draw, and enjoy the process.
How it works:
As soon as you check out, you'll receive a PDF with your private video link and everything you need to begin. For the workshop, you only need a sketchbook and colour pencils.
Prefer to draw along live? Check out my upcoming live workshops. If you want to dive deeper into illustration, you can explore my book - The Traveling Sketcher: City.
